'Orange cat ain't mine but I think I am his now': Woman feeds a stray ginger cat, he starts bringing his fluffy girlfriend, then she brings her kittens, and suddenly, this woman has a bunch of new feline friends to feed

As we have learned the hard way, once you feed a stray cat… a domino effect happens. You feed the stray cat once, and it keeps coming, and then, without any warning, that cat brings you its kittens or a friend of his. So, you find yourself feeding multiple cats. And… suddenly, just like that, you become your building's official cat feeder, and every person in the building knows you as that person. Yes, we say this from experience. 

Now, we have warned people about this before. Act kindly to a stray cat once and face all of the consequences that come with it. But people don't always listen to us, and so, they find themselves learning the same lesson the hard way too. Which is what this person did. We don't think that they anticipated being the local hot-spot for all the stray cats in the neighborhood, but just like us… they do not seem to mind their new role too much.

    Started by leaving dry food for this old orange cat that visited my back yard from time to time. He started bringing his gf(small white). Woke up Saturday and nows there's a full house. Orange cat ain't mine but I think I am his now. He has become very friendly and cries when I don't feed him wet food now. Added bonus pic of the kittens the white one just had.

  • This is how it happens, friends. This is why cats decided to domesticate themselves. You feed them once, and they don't take that act of kindness for granted. No, they milk it. They milk it themselves, and they bring all their friends, and we, suckers that we are, love every second of it and feed all of them.

    Suspicious_Ad7384 OP Ya, i end up feeding the neighborhood possum. Woke me up one night and all the cats where just watching him eat. Why I started feeding them inside. I have a small automatic feeder | use for the other outdoor cats thou cuase I felt bad for the others who wont come in.

    Suspicious_Ad7384 OP Ya, let's see, there's OC, momma, fluffy Grump, scaredy cat, the void, the father of the kittens, the great white instigator, white cat I haven't named cause he's always fighting with OC, black cat I haven't named cause he fights with my boy OC all the time, and the 3 kittens. And ya its my boy OC who starts the fights.

  • We love how this person just accepted this. Yes, this is your fate now, and there is no reason to fight it, because fight it or not, the cats are here to stay. And you have gained an adorable little fluffy family to love.

    Suspicious_Ad7384 OP Ya, that pic is a few weeks old. Since then I have become a chewy customer and spent alot more then I like to admit. They are well taken care of now, got like 5 different bowl to minimize whisker fatigue.

    Fearless-Ad-5702 We had the same thing happen when we moved into our house. We saw one cat at first, would run across our back patio in the middle of the night. Then later a second cat. We decided to leave a snack for them. The a third cat showed up. So now we feed all three of them and it's gotten to the point where they'll come around at various times during the day, just to spend time with us.

    We have two indoor cats and we don't let them mix, since the boys are outdoor cats and our girls have always been indoor cats. Mostly because we don't know if the boys have anything like fleas or something, and taking all 3 of them to the vet would be outrageously expensive. So we just refer to them as "The Boys", our outdoor cats.
